My group has won the right to exhibit on the King Harry Ferry in December. I think the extra effort we made on both external and internal exhibitions won it for us, I wouldn’t have said our venue would have been strong enough else.

As our brief was about the community, it was our task to exhibit within our given community and our venue was the Seven Stars Pub in flushing. The space wasn’t that great but the show did look cohesive and appealing. We extended the exhibition on to every table with hand made, dark room printed photographic beer mats. This really helped to anchor the show into its venue and thus into the community.

One outcome of my Coastal group brief, was the internal exhibition in the University gallery. I proposed to create photographic beer mats for our external exhibition in order to tie the show in with the venue, The Seven Stars pub. After we decided on this Antonia thought we should show the beer mats at the internal exhibition. She made contact with a 3D design student and we commissioned her to create a unique table to display our beer mats on. The result was this really bizarre and interesting coffee table with 40 springs on its surface for us to exhibit our mats on. This table along with our traditional prints made up our portion of the internal exhibition.

I always say I’m not a fan of film but returning to my work on tinyvices.com has reminded me of the aesthetics associated with it. I really want to start shooting colour film again.

So far so good, falmouth turned out to be a very good choice. BA Photography is in another world compared to ND Photography, in fact the step up between courses is especially steep. We have Lectures, seminars and inductions througout each week with those being supported by group and personal tutorials. The amount of support in place is surreal, not to mention the ability of the staff and the way the entire course runs like clockwork.
Right now I have two essays to prepare whilst shooting and curating a group show in a local village, on top of this I have to participate in online discussions at least once a week on our chosen essay topic as well as on our group shows. I have to prepare for each lecture and seminar with notes on the subject as well as fill out paper work for our ‘Personal Development Profile’ or PDP, a fancy UNI CV.
Everything so far feels like a dream, to be living in Cornwall whilst studying photography is unreal.
